The Green Space Engineering Group at Binaloud Higher Education Institution started its work in 2006 by accepting nearly 70 students. As this field was launched for the first time in the eastern region of Iran at Binaloud Higher Education Institution, this group is considered a pioneer in the Khorasan province and has been active to this day. Currently, nearly 100 students are studying in this field across four different intakes, and one full-time faculty member and more than 10 part-time lecturers collaborate with this group. It should be noted that over 300 students have graduated in the field of Green Space Engineering so far. The management of this group is currently under the responsibility of Mr. Adel Alizadeh.
Green space engineering, also known as green infrastructure engineering, is a branch of engineering that focuses on the design, construction, and management of green spaces within urban and suburban environments. The goal of green space engineering is to create sustainable and resilient spaces that provide ecological, social, and economic benefits to communities.
In a green space engineering major, students study topics such as urban ecology, sustainable design, landscape architecture, storm water management, soil science, plant biology, and more. They learn to use software and other tools to design and model green spaces, analyze storm water runoff, and evaluate the ecological and social benefits of green infrastructure.
After graduating from a green space engineering major, graduates can work as landscape architects, storm water engineers, sustainability consultants, urban planners, and more in a variety of industries, including government agencies, non-profit organizations, and private firms. They may also pursue advanced degrees in related fields, such as environmental engineering, landscape architecture, or ecology.
